One family gave up all worldly pleasure in 2019 for a nomadic life. Santosh Iyer, an IT Professional, let go of his job, sold off their Pune house, car, appliances, and furniture to live and enjoy a nomadic life. Also, their two kids Hrridhaan and Khwahish gave up their school life to be their parents. The family lives with four suitcases and enjoys traveling all over India and try to stay not more than two months and single place.

Aanchal Iyer, a freelance digital marketer and a mother of two kids, says that her 11-year-old son was scolded for getting six questions correct out of 10. That day, she realizes that they didn’t want to put children through the rat race, same as both parents. Today’s truth is that she didn’t study in school, and she doesn’t even remember things she studied in school. The reason she started homeschooling is that she visited many schools, and all required 90 percent marks. She thought that it is not the only way of life, and then she started homeschooling. Also, her daughter, who was just six years old, scolded her for not drawing a slanting line correctly. Then both parents decided to start homeschooling for her too.

The outcome for their nomadic life and homeschooling decision goes well as now his son Hridhaan is now a voracious reader as every chapter becomes a story for him and study it well without a hurry. Also, her daughter is in 2nd class but is on a 4th class syllabus. Liberating both her children is the best decision Mr. and Mrs. Iyer made, but they thought something was missing. They then realized that the best way to learn is to expose children to different cultures and people, and thus they decided to travel, which is the best way. So they started their nomadic journey to Pavana Dam in 2017, and the way kids adapted to the situation and living with basic amenities made them happy and commendable. After that family fell in love with nomadic life and reduced their house into just four suitcases, they lived in Palampur, Rajkot, Kasauli, Dalhousie, Ooty Udaipur, and Jaipur.

Mr. and Mrs. Iyer believes that travel is learning and plays a deep role in bringing out kids’ curiosity. Living away from home taught their kids to be flexible, vicarious, and to co-exist. Now they can sleep on the floor if they have to, they can enjoy rain and heat and walk about 8 to 9 km in a day. Traveling also helped them to overcome their fears and inhibitions. They say that the best way to lead a nomadic life is to cut on your expenses. According to them, living a nomadic life is one of the best decisions of their .lives as their children have become decision-makers and learned many things away from social media and touch reality. Now they are happy with basics, and the main focus is happiness for the whole family.
