Indians are facing the worst phase of COVID-19, and thus lockdowns are there in many cities. Gurudwaras are always known for selfless sewas and especially in these difficult times. Gurudwaras in Delhi and Noida are offering hygienic langars to quarantined covid positive patients.
From social media, also Sikh community received lots of praise for the sewa they are doing at these difficult times.
Langar Delivery at Doorsteps of Covid Patients

To help people, ‘Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhan Committee has initiated langar sewa for COVID -19 positive patients. Also, a gurudwara in Noida’s Sector 18 has also started langar sewa and providing food to all patients. This service was started by gurudwara in Noida in 2020 September. Every day about 5000 packets of food are distributed to families who are COVID positive and who are unable to cook food by
themselves. The food packets prepared by gurudwara was placed in front of the society gate, and the security guard of the society take packets to the families. Gurudwara in Noida had also settled up a helpline number to check the details of orders, and then they prepared the food, packed and delivered at the doorsteps of covid patients. Not only to covid patients has the food also been distributed large numbers of low-income families, migrant laborers who are in need.
Now Oxygen Langar by Gurudwaras
There are many SOS calls for oxygen cylinders nowadays, and because of this shortage of oxygen, the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Ghaziabad started ‘oxygen langar’ to save the lives of many. Till now, they have saved about 200 lives; also, they are offering testing facilities to people along with medicine.
Concept of Langar
The concept of langar is to provide or serve meals to all irrespective of religion, gender, caste, class, social and economic consideration. Thus the Gurudwaras in Delhi and Noida started home delivery to covid patients and ensured that one should stay hungry at any cost.
